Highlights of WPF events in January and February, 2019.

January:

CES 2019

WPF will be participating in the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 Jan. 8-11, 2019. CES is the largest electronics show in the world and serves as advance notice for emerging technologies and privacy trends.

WPF’s schedule at CES is as follows:

  • Tuesday Jan. 8 : Digital Money
  • Wednesday Jan. 9: Digital Health
  • Thursday Jan. 10: Student privacy, identity technologies & biometrics, IoT
  • Friday Jan. 11: Smart cities, AI

OECD AI Expert Group delegate meeting

Pam Dixon, WPF Executive Director, is an expert advisor to the OECD on AI and a delegate of the AI Expert Group. This is the third meeting of the group, to continue discussions of a principle framework.The AIGO is crafting guidelines on AI as part of the OECD Going Digital, Working Party on Security and Privacy in the Digital Economy. 

The 3rd meeting will be held at MIT in Boston, January 15-17 2019.

Keynote speech: 20 Years of Privacy & What the Future Holds for Privacy | Canada’s 20th Annual Privacy and Security Conference

WPF’s ED Pam Dixon will deliver a keynote speech at Canada’s 20th Annual Privacy and Security Conference, to be held on February 7-8, 2019 at the Victoria Conference Centre, Victoria, British Columbia. The conference will be attended by approximately a thousand delegates and is the among the most important privacy conferences in North America.

The speech looks at the past 20 years of privacy and looks toward what the future of privacy hold. Dixon will deliver 20 Years of Privacy: The Surprising Pathway from the Past to Today, and What it Means for the Future Friday, Feb. 8.
