Roundtable of African Data Protection Authorities (RADPA): Report now public
The World Privacy Forum was deeply honored to participate in the first Roundtable of African Data Protection Authorities (RADPA), hosted by ID4Africa in June. Pam Dixon, Executive Director, was invited to be the Rapporteur for the event, which was held in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The wide-ranging and vibrant roundtable conversation on the status and response to privacy risks in identity systems included the Data Protection Authorities from the continent of Africa, with some observers. The dialogue focused on data protection and privacy experiences, challenges, risks, and solutions in identity ecosystems, including biometric and digital identity systems in African countries. It was an extraordinary, first-of-its-kind event, and the DPAs had notable experiences and thoughts to share.
Pam Dixon as rapporteur documented the proceedings and captured the dialogue and the thoughts of the DPAs. This is the first document of its kind, and ID4Africa has published the detailed RADPA Proceedings in English and in French and has made it available to the public.
World Privacy Forum thanks ID4Africa for hosting and facilitating this groundbreaking roundtable, and for affording us the opportunity to do this important work.
The RADPA proceedings are available in English and in French.
